The slinky coffee table
The idea was conceived as an umbrella stand.
but once viewed horizontally, I had to make a table.
We call it the slinky because the structure moves continuously from one end to the other. Each piece of oak is glued into the next piece, not directly over it.
In between each square we have glued walnut cubes that add a shadow to each intersection and at the same time play a crucial structural role.
We then placed 8mm thick clear glass in the top and bottom of the table.
the glass provides the surface, while one can enjoy the continuation of the structure.
